I often ask pet owners about what they give their pets to drink? Most of the time, the response that I get is just plain tap water. Think about it, when was the last time you thought about the quality of water that you give your pet? I then ask the pet owners what they drink and they say bottled water, filtered water, purified water, or tap water. For some reason, some pet owners don't take into consideration the quality of water that they give their pets. It's most probably unintentional, but it does make you wonder why our pets can sometimes be considered second class citizens.
It is very important to give your pet the best possible food and water available to ensure good health. Pets can't communicate like us and they can't tell you what is wrong with them. A healthy diet and clean water is great prevention against disease and medical conditions. Tap water has chlorine, and other chemicals that are in the water to kill viruses and bacteria. Inevitably, your pet will drink those chemicals if they are not removed from their water. My vet has reminded me countless times to make sure that my 2 dogs have fresh clean water in a clean water bowl. A clean bowl means less germs and bacteria in your pets water.
There are many ways to ensure that your pet has good, clean water. If you have an existing water filter system, make sure you give it to your pet and that the bowl is always clean. If you don't have a water filter, get yourself a good countertop water filter for you, your family, and your pet. There are also special bowls that constantly filter and clean your pets water. If you use bottled water, you might want to consider a water filter system for your home because it would be much more economical for you in the long run.
Simply put, give your pet the same quality water that you would give yourself, he or she will thank you for it.
Good day and good luck.
