My dog is my absolute best friend and I love him dearly, but every time I turn around he has an ailment, a symptom, or some behavioral problem. Sound familiar?
Choosing to become a pet owner is a big step in the fact that its just like having and raising small children. It starts from the minute you come home with your new best friend, and as time goes by, your responsibilities will only continue to grow. So why is it so hard to stay on top of all of this?
The answer lies in the time we spend educating ourselves about our pet, their particular breed, and the nuances and health risks around them. Much like us, if we do not watch our diet and eat nothing but junk food, our bodies start to take a health transformation for the worse. Pets are the same way! They need proper diet, proper food portioning, essential vitamins and minerals, and so much more on a daily basis to stay healthy.
Taking the time to learn and educate ourselves about keeping our pet healthy starts with taking the time to understand our responsibilities as a pet owner. There are so many things we, as owners, can do to be proactive in our pets health that it is mind-boggling. However, many of us just do not take the time to learn these things and apply them in our every day lives.
If you just take the time to learn about your pet, the proper diet, proper feeding portions, appropriate food ingredients, and some other basic pet care, you can alleviate the majority of the symptoms and ailments that plaque our pets and send us running to the vet for major medical bills. Remember, you can always count on your pet, but can they count on you?
